Bike Ride

A book that invites you into my neighborhood to see it the way I do, to
feel the rhythm and hum of Pilsen as you bike through and feel touched by the mysterious lives and homes around you. The exterior is covered in windows and a poem I wrote.

The book is large enough to stand inside when upright but can also lie flat, folded in on itself. The people's lives are held safe within the sturdy brick walls of the book. This book is a world in itself where my memories of my neighborhood are kept safe.

Inside the hard cover of this book is another more delicate book held in a folder called "Bike Ride". As you flip through the translucent pages you construct my neighborhood in your own way. You choose which image to linger on, how many pages you layer, how deep you go.

 The paper is handmade from magazines and newspapers. (some is tracing paper)

Self Portrait

Here's a self portrait I made in advanced drawing. Jean didn't think the portrait itself was working, but liked what was going on behind it. This is definitely still a work in progress.
